Sales recruiters in Miami: what the local B2B sales pool holds
Miami runs a higher share of its jobs in sales than the country, with the concentration sitting in real estate, insurance, financial services and travel. The occupations that describe a complex-cycle B2B seller sit at or below the national concentration.
Key takeaways
- Sales and related occupations account for 10.8% of Miami metro employment, compared with 8.6% nationally.
- Sales engineers have a location quotient of 0.54, while technical and scientific product representatives sit at 0.92.
- Financial services, insurance and real estate provide deep adjacent pools, though prior success in those fields does not establish complex-cycle B2B ability.
- Local recruiting matters when South Florida geography affects the selling work; a national candidate pool calls for a national search.

What the numbers say about hiring a B2B seller in Miami
The Miami-Fort Lauderdale-West Palm Beach metro employed 304,600 people in sales and related occupations in May 2025. Those jobs represented 10.8% of local employment, compared with 8.6% nationally, giving the metro a location quotient of 1.25.
A location quotient is a concentration measure where 1.00 means the Miami metro has the same share of its jobs in that occupation as the country does. A result above 1.00 means the occupation takes a larger share locally. A result below 1.00 means it takes a smaller share.
The local concentration is strongest in real estate, insurance, financial services and travel. The categories closest to complex technical B2B selling are thinner: sales engineers sit at 0.54, and representatives selling technical and scientific products sit at 0.92.
For an employer, the broad sales count confirms that Miami has sales talent. The occupation-level split shows which backgrounds are directly relevant and which require a deliberate conversion test.
The Miami sales-occupation table
The table keeps the BLS categories intact and adds Revenue Bench's search interpretation in the final column.
| Occupation (BLS category) | Miami metro employment | Concentration vs national | Mean annual wage | What it means for your search |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sales engineers | 510 | 0.54 | $139,910 | A pool of 510 people across a three-county metro leaves a local-only sales engineer search almost nothing to work with, so the realistic paths are relocation, remote hiring or conversion. |
| Sales representatives, wholesale and manufacturing, technical and scientific products | 4,730 | 0.92 | $119,980 | This is the closest BLS match to a complex-cycle B2B seller, and its concentration sits below the national rate. It is the number most worth acting on when you set search geography and compensation. |
| First-line supervisors of non-retail sales workers | 4,690 | 1.21 | $92,910 | The above-national concentration provides a meaningful local leadership pool, though the category does not reveal whether an individual can coach or run a complex forecast. |
| Sales representatives of services | 30,300 | 1.33 | $75,070 | Services selling carries the volume, and the title covers everything from a renewal desk to a consultative solution sale, so the title cannot serve as the screen. |
| Sales representatives, wholesale and manufacturing, except technical and scientific products | 30,740 | 1.37 | $76,580 | This is the largest of the nine pools here and the one closest to a field-sales motion, so it is where a Miami search most often finds volume, and where a structured screen earns its keep. |
| Securities, commodities, and financial services sales agents | 14,190 | 1.60 | $93,900 | A deep local pool used to regulated products and consequential buyer conversations. What it does not evidence is running a multi-stakeholder cycle to a forecast. |
| Insurance sales agents | 14,160 | 1.63 | $74,620 | A deep local pool with prospecting volume and objection handling already built. The open question is diagnosis: whether the candidate can size an unfamiliar problem before presenting. |
| Real estate sales agents | 9,160 | 2.61 | $84,400 | The most concentrated pool in the metro, strong on negotiation and self-generated pipeline. Transaction work rarely builds forecast discipline or selling through a buying committee. |
| Travel agents | 4,560 | 4.56 | $55,940 | The highest concentration on this table, and a background that transfers least readily to a complex B2B cycle. |
Employment, concentration and wage figures: BLS, Occupational Employment and Wages in Miami-Fort Lauderdale-West Palm Beach, FL, May 2025, news release 26-1152-ATL, published 7 July 2026. The final column is Revenue Bench co-founder Carlos Garrido's read of that release for a hiring employer, and carries no statistic of its own.
What these numbers cannot tell you
- Annual wages are the BLS mean hourly wage times 2,080 hours. They are not the same as on-target earnings for a commissioned seller, so a quota-carrying package with variable pay can sit well above the mean without being an outlier.
- The estimates exclude self-employed workers, which understates real estate and travel selling in particular.
- A location quotient measures how concentrated an occupation is locally. It says nothing about quality, and nothing about whether a given individual can sell in a complex cycle.
- The occupation categories are broad, so two people inside one BLS row can be doing entirely different jobs.
The adjacent pools, and what transfers
Revenue Bench uses the following framework to evaluate possible conversions. It is our own framework rather than published research, and no statistic is attached to it.
Employment in the financial activities sector of the three-county Miami-Fort Lauderdale-West Palm Beach area, the same geography as the occupation table above, fell by 5,600 jobs, or 2.5%, in the year to June 2026, the largest sector decline in that area, according to the BLS Miami, FL, Area Economic Summary, updated 3 August 2026. Financial activities covers finance, insurance and real estate together rather than securities selling alone. A sector decline is a supply signal rather than a measure of how many quota-carrying sellers are available.
| Adjacent Miami pool | What transfers | What does not | What to test before you hire |
|---|---|---|---|
| Financial services sales agents | Comfort with regulated products, consequential buyer conversations and disciplined follow-up. | Success with a financial product does not establish ability to manage a complex operating problem or a longer buying process. | Give the candidate a business case and test discovery depth, access to decision makers and control of the next step. |
| Insurance agents | Prospecting discipline, objection handling and repeated pipeline activity can transfer. | A familiar policy sale or renewal motion may not prepare someone for a multi-stakeholder solution sale. | Test whether the candidate can diagnose an unfamiliar problem before presenting a solution. |
| Real estate agents | Local relationship building, negotiation and self-directed prospecting can transfer. | Individual transaction experience may not include forecast discipline or selling through an organizational buying process. | Test pipeline math and the candidate's response when buyer access stalls during a longer cycle. |
| Transactional wholesale and services reps | Prospecting, account coverage and closing habits may transfer when the buyer and economics are similar. | A high-volume transaction does not establish competence with technical discovery or a committee decision. | Recreate the employer's sales motion and test how the candidate handles discovery, internal alignment and commercial risk. |
What local wage movement does to a budget set last year
Wages and salaries across the Miami-Port St. Lucie-Fort Lauderdale CSA rose 3.5% in the twelve months to June 2026, compared with 3.1% nationally. That is a wider geography than the three-county occupation table above, and it covers all occupations rather than sales alone. The BLS release was published 4 August 2026.
A compensation budget set a year ago may lag current local wage movement. Use the method in the sales compensation benchmarks for 2026 to test the role's number, then review how sales recruiter fees affect the full hiring budget.
When a local recruiter matters for a sales hire, and when it does not
A local recruiter matters when
- The role requires being in front of South Florida buyers or covering a territory that is physically here.
- The hire must be selected against how business is done in this market, including selling in Spanish where the role requires it.
- You want the search owner in the same time zone and able to sit across the table.
A local recruiter does not matter when
- The role is fully remote and the buyer is national.
- The candidate pool is national by nature, as it often is for a sales engineer.
- The search constraint is the assessment bar rather than geography.
If the constraint is national, a local office is not the reason to choose a firm.
When a role requires selling in Spanish
Some South Florida sales roles require selling in Spanish, and where that is true it is load-bearing rather than a preference. We publish no percentage, because no figure we could verify to a primary source covers it.
When a role requires selling in Spanish, the requirement goes into the role profile and is tested during the operator screen against a real buyer conversation. We do not take it from a resume line. The broader selection method is covered in how to assess a salesperson.

Hiring sales talent in South Florida, answered
Is it hard to hire B2B salespeople in Miami?
The answer depends on the selling motion. Miami has a higher share of sales jobs than the country, while sales engineers and technical and scientific product representatives have lower local concentrations than the national average. A complex-cycle search may need broader geography or a tested conversion from an adjacent pool.
What do salespeople earn in the Miami area?
BLS reports a mean annual wage of $54,500 for sales and related occupations in the Miami metro in May 2025. Occupation-specific means appear in the table above. These wages are not the same as on-target earnings for a commissioned seller.
Where is Revenue Bench located?

Does a sales recruiter need to be based in Miami?
No. A local base matters when the role depends on South Florida buyers, territory knowledge or in-person access. A national search can be more useful when the role is remote or the candidate pool is national by nature.
What parts of South Florida do you cover?
Revenue Bench serves Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties and works with clients outside South Florida.
How do you decide a sales candidate can sell?
Candidates for selling and sales-leadership roles are assessed with Objective Management Group and screened by an operator against the employer's role profile, sales process and buyer conversation.
